The Yellow Wind Sage, The Buddha heads and The Stones
On Yellow Wind Ridge, several rocks absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and transformed into stone spirits, with two becoming mountain gods. One day, strange flesh Buddha heads appeared, capable of swallowing nearby creatures. To protect the mountain beings, one stone spirit smashed a flesh Buddha head and grew a stone Buddha head in its place. It became greedy, hunting down other flesh Buddha heads to absorb their power, ultimately becoming the strongest in the mountain.
The Yellow Wind Sage, leading a group of demons, passed through Yellow Wind Ridge and encountered the mountain gods and stone spirits trying to drive the flesh Buddha heads away. The Sage rallied its companions to help them, successfully defeating the flesh Buddha heads and stone monsters. It shared the spoils with the mountain gods and buried the eye beads of the Buddha heads. The mountain creatures were grateful, honoring the Yellow Wind Sage as the Great Saint of Yellow Wind, and it settled down there.
After the Great Saint of Yellow Wind gave the essence of the Buddha head monster to the two mountain gods, they gained human hearts and forms and gave birth to a stone child. They became known as Father of Stones , Mother of Stones , and Son of Stones.
The Father of Stones saves a girl
One day, a girl in tattered clothes entered the Stone Valley of Yellow Wind Ridge, seeking shelter from her abusive parents who wanted to marry her off to a fool. She hid in the cave of the stones, The Father of stones initially intended to drive her away but allowed her to stay after seeing her pitiful state. The girl cooked delicious meals using the natural resources in the cave, and they lived harmoniously together for two years.
One day, while washing clothes by the river, she encountered a woodcutter from her village and returned the cave in tears, fearing her parents would find her. The next day, they came looking for her, pleading at the cave’s entrance. When she refused to return, they resorted to insults, but Stone Father scared them away. He decided to guard the cave, and her parents threatened to summon a Taoist if she wasn’t returned.
Fearing for the safety of the stone spirits, the girl quietly left the cave at night but tragically fell off a cliff and died. When the stone spirits found her the next day, her body was already cold.
Hearing that the Iron Fan Fairy of Flame Mountain had powerful magic and a kind heart, Stone Father carried the girl’s body to Flame Mountain. However, the Iron Fan Fairy said reviving her would be nearly impossible, resulting only in a soulless shell. Determined, Stone Father refused to give up and continued to wait on the mountain path with her body, hoping to win the Iron Fan Fairy's sympathy, even as her remains turned to bones.
The destined one killed Father of Stones
As a destined one, while passing through Flame Mountain, you encountered Stone Father, who was still guarding the path with the girl’s lifeless body. He stood resolute, determined to protect her even in death. Seeing his unwavering commitment and the tragic situation, you felt a mix of emotions—compassion for the stone spirit and a sense of duty to continue your journey. However, knowing that you had to move forward and that Stone Father would not allow anyone to pass without confronting them, you made the difficult decision to engage him. With a heavy heart, you fought against the stone spirit. The battle was fierce, but ultimately, your strength and destiny prevailed. You struck down Stone Father, who fell to the ground, his form shattering into pieces. As you stood over the remnants of the stone spirit, you felt a profound sense of loss for the guardian who had fought so hard for the girl he loved. You realized that sometimes, fulfilling your destiny comes at a cost, and the echoes of that battle would stay with you as you continued your journey through the world.
The destined one was deceived by Man-in-Stone and killed the Stone Mother
After Stone Father had been gone for too long,The Son of Stone decided to go in search of his father, leaving Stone Mother alone and lonely in the cave. Concerned for her son's safety in the outside world, Stone Mother divided a large portion of her divine power, which resided within her stone essence, and bestowed it upon him. With this gift, she felt more at ease allowing him to embark on his journey.
With the remaining divine power, Stone Mother transformed it into a stone spirit named Stone Vanguard, tasked with protecting the land they called home. However, this act of sharing her power left Stone Mother depleted, rendering her unable to move or leave the cave. She waited patiently for her strength to recover, hoping for the day when she could reunite with her son and protect their home once more.
Years ago, When the Great Saint of Yellow Wind led demons to defeat the Buddha head monster, he invited the keeper to join the fight. However, the keeper only watched from the sidelines. When the essence of the Buddha head was divided, the mountain gods received their share, but he did not, which filled him with jealousy. He believed that obtaining this essence would grant him power like the mountain gods, leading him to plot against Stone Mother after Stone Father left.
One day, the keeper disguised himself as a stone spirit and approached Stone Mother deceitfully. He intended to charge at her abdomen to break her open and extract her core. Just as he leaped, Stone Mother screamed, and several stone spirits emerged. Distracted, the keeper miscalculated his attack and only managed to crack her chest.
Realizing his plan had failed, he tried to absorb her magical power by jumping onto her. However, as the stone spirits pulled him away, he only siphoned off half of her power. The enraged spirits chased him, battering him as he tried to escape. The keeper struggled to reveal his true form to confront them but found himself unable to change back, having become a stone being.
The stone spirits continued to assault him until they finally subdued him, leaving him buried in the ground. From that day on, the keeper lost all hope and accepted his fate as a worthless rock in the mountain valley, believing that if he could obtain the other half of the essence, he might regain his former self.
The destined one was deceived by Man-in-Stone and killed the Stone Mother, obtain the other half of the essence.
The destined one killed the Son of Stones
Helplessly, Son of Stones set out in the opposite direction from his father. While his father headed west, he ventured east and eventually arrived at Flower-Fruit Mountain.
Whenever he came across a mountain, he would enter to search for his father's traces. If he didn't find anything, he would move on to the next mountain. However, Flower-Fruit Mountain was filled with many fun and beautiful sights, which made him want to stay.
If you were to ask him what he liked the most, it would be a large cricket named General Phoenix Wing. He would sit on the mountaintop every day, watching the cricket leap into the sky and land with a thud, clapping his hands in delight. Over time, he became so absorbed in the enjoyment that he completely forgot about his quest to find his father.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
